Michelle Bloor, SETAC United Kingdom Regional Branch President
Are you a member of SETAC who wants to help shape the Society, but you do not have much time in which to do it? Are you based in the United Kingdom (UK)? If so, joining the SETAC UK Regional Branch Council or Student Council could be your answer!
SETAC UK is a regional branch of SETAC Europe. There are five regional branches in SETAC Europe: Arabian Gulf, Germany, Italy, Russia and UK. The role of regional branches is to engage with SETAC members on a local scale. In the UK, we create events and incentives for our members relating to science development, science communication, networking opportunities, outreach, mentorship, education and much, much more.
It does not require a large time investment to perform the duties of the UK Council or Student Council. The UK Council has one or two half-day, face-to-face meetings each year and one- or two-hour bimonthly teleconferences. The Student Council has several one-hour teleconferences per year. Both councils have a clear and transparent role structure, and there are many opportunities to progress through the council’s hierarchy – an ideal way to gain new skills and find professional development opportunities.
We have vacancies for full members and also student members. Find out more on the SETAC UK website or contact SETAC UK Branch President Michelle Bloor. To apply, send your CV and cover letter explaining why you would like to join the SETAC UK Council to email@example.com.
