Successful Start to Herb Ward Challenge – Endowment Fund Donor Update

Ruth Hull, Chairman, SETAC North America Endowment Fun

Big and small contributions to the Endowment Fund added up to almost $30,000 in 2015! We received several Legacy contributions of $1,000 or more as well as many $10, $20 or $40 contributions that all add up. This allowed us to reach almost $200,000 at the end of the year and put us well on our way to reaching the goal of $400,000 by the SETAC North America 40th Annual Meeting in 2019.

Thank you for your contribution to the Endowment Fund!

The Endowment Fund was started about 10 years ago for SETAC North America and generates investment proceeds that can be used every year to support technical, scientific and educational activities consistent with SETAC’s mission.

In the past several months, the fund has been used to:

SETAC SLC Jail and Bail
Four academic generations in jail at the Salt Lake City annual meeting (Megan Stallard, Frank Bailey, Steve Klaine, and Herb Ward).

There are some wonderful testimonials from people who have been supported by the fund over the years. They are a very inspirational read.

If you missed the action at the Jail & Bail at the SETAC North America 36th Annual Meeting, which was held in 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah, have a look at our Globe article that appeared in January.

We’re brainstorming now to find another fun activity for the 7th SETAC World Congress/SETAC North America 37th Annual Meeting, which will be held from 6–10 November in Orlando, Florida. If you have a suggestion, please let us know. Note that we are not allowed to have a dunk tank!

Thanks again! Your contributions make a real difference to young scientists’ lives!

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Ruth Hull at 905-364-7800 (x207) or via email.
