SETAC World Congress: We Need Your Support

Karina Miglioranza and Bill Goodfellow, Co-Chairs, Fundraising Committee

Submit a session by 24 FebPutting on a successful scientific meeting is always a challenge. But when that meeting is a world congress, those challenges are bigger and broader. There are many moving parts in planning and delivering a successful scientific meeting, and planning for a world congress requires the support of many people from around the global world of SETAC. We all need to come together to ensure the success of the SETAC 7th World Congress/SETAC North America 37th Annual Meeting this November in Orlando, Florida.

Therefore, we would like to request your support. We are looking for persons or organizations that might be interested in supporting this important SETAC meeting that only occurs once every four years. Past SETAC world congresses have been well attended, with record numbers of delegates from many more countries than a normal annual meeting would attract. However, with this increased attendance also comes the need to help provide an opportunity for it to be a meaningful event for as many SETAC members as possible.

Fundraising is always an important aspect of any annual meeting, but the needs are even greater for a world congress. Every little bit helps, and no contribution is too small (or too large for that matter). Many items such as sponsoring students travel or student networking, coffee breaks, poster socials, etc. are in need of support, and any donation you are willing to make can benefit these or other activities at the meeting (simply note any specific area you'd like to support in the comments box).  Smaller individual contributions can collectively make a big difference, so we encourage you to consider making an individual sponsorship donation.

We can also help you promote your company, university, agency or organization through a variety of sponsorship opportunities, from general meeting contributions to more directed sponsorship programs such as coffee breaks, poster socials, plenary speakers, Women in SETAC Luncheon, or presentation services to name a few. All of these opportunities come with visible acknowledgement of your organizations to the conference attendees. And if you would like to more visibly display what your company or organization has to offer, there still is exhibit space available.  Additionally, if you know of an organization that might be interested in either exhibiting at or generally supporting the SETAC 7th World Congress/SETAC North America 37th Annual Meeting, please share this information and request with them.

If you are interested in becoming involved, please contact Bill Goodfellow or Karina Miglioranza, or call the SETAC office at 850-469-1500 ext. 108.

If you have other ideas as to how we can make it easier for you or your organization to support the world congress, please let us know as well. Our overall goal is to have a meaningful and impactful meeting that helps create higher visibility for our members and partners.
