SETAC Europe Award Winners

SETAC Europe Council Awards Committee

Every year SETAC Europe organises the Best Publication Award in the categories risk assessment, chemical analysis and ecotoxicology. The SETAC Europe award goes to the best publication in risk assessment, modelling and theoretical studies. The Eurofins Award goes to the best publication in chemical analysis and environmental monitoring, and the RifCon Award goes to the best publication in ecotoxicology, eco- epidemiology and biological or biochemical studies. The SETAC Europe awards are given to a student or early career scientist. The Award Committee is very pleased to announce the winners of the Best Publication Award from the 18 applications received.

In addition, every year SETAC Europe organises the Environmental Education Award. This award is presented at the SETAC Europe Annual Meeting to a well-respected scientist in this field residing in Europe or in one of the territories administered by SETAC Europe. The purpose of the award is to honour activities in the dissemination of knowledge on environmental sciences. An outstanding record of interdisciplinary activities related to the distribution of knowledge on environmental sciences and substantial contributions to the education in this field are key criteria in granting this award.

Dieter de ConinckRonny Blust will dedicate the award prize money to the SETAC organisation. The money will be used to give three young scientists registration grants for congresses and short courses.

SETAC Lifetime Achievement Award

Dieter de ConinckEvery two years, the Lifetime Achievement Award for Life Cycle Assessment is granted to a mature scientist who is internationally recognized to have made a significant contribution to the scientific development and regulatory acceptance of life cycle assessment.

On behalf of the SETAC Europe Awards Committee and the SETAC Europe office, we would like to congratulate all winners and thank all contributors for their participation in the SETAC Europe Awards Programme. All contributions were of very high quality.

All awards will be presented during the opening session of the SETAC Europe Annual meeting in Basel, 11 May 2014.
