New SETAC Website and Online Communication Tools Are Live
Michael C. Mozur, SETAC Global Executive Director and Matt Moore, SETAC Internet Committtee Chair
Earlier this month, we launched an upgraded SETAC website and new online communication tools. This upgrade includes a new SETAC web portal and networking features for the Society, unified membership database management, and GoToMeeting® capabilities for established SETAC governance and activity groups. If you haven’t done so, we encourage you to explore the new features at www.setac.org.
Ten days into the new system, more than 2,000 members have already logged in, and we are pleased with the positive feedback we have received. With any change, there are transitional difficulties such as new usernames (the email with which you originally registered for your account) to sign into the new portal. If you are having trouble logging in, please contact our office. We were also not able to import advisory group membership data, but we are working very hard to get everybody’s profile updated with this information.
Next to the improved networking features, which many of you have already used, the global database and payments mechanism is proving its worth. In pursuing technical innovation on a cost-effective basis, we opted to work with packaged systems, so it will not always be possible to customize all elements to meet the needs of every individual member. We will continue to work hard to improve the website and give you the best possible experience.
One of our next steps will be sharing access to group-specific pages and tools with our advisory groups, regional branches or chapters, and committee leaders. This will include access to GoToMeeting® software to complement group discussions by having web meetings where documents can be shared in real time. We hope that members will be very pleased with this new ability.
We hope you will join us in taking advantage of the much-improved SETAC website and online communication tools. Together, we can pursue Environmental Quality Through Science® with new, dynamic and more productive ways.
Please contact us with your questions and feedback—all input, good and bad, will be greatly appreciated.
