Your SETAC North America Endowment Fund
Gene Mancini, E.R. Mancini & Associates
As Chairman of the Board of Trustees for your SNA Endowment Fund, I’m pleased to report that the Fund currently stands at more than $84,000. Our 2011 target for the Fund is $100,000 by year’s end. To achieve this important benchmark we are encouraging every member to consider a contribution to the Fund.
Your Endowment Fund was established in 2005 and through a combination of current and planned gifts, is intended to continuously accumulate sufficient principal to annually generate investment interest, dividends and related proceeds for the purposes of supporting technical, scientific and educational activities consistent with the Society’s mission. The annual proceeds from the conservatively invested principal of the Endowment Fund are intended to sustain our Society and to support activities encouraging responsible environmental management decision making informed by sound environmental science principles.
The appointed Board of Trustees for the Fund will be responsible for annually maintaining and enhancing the Endowment Fund principal while committing investment proceeds to relevant and appropriate Society projects and activities. The current Fund Board of Trustees is listed here:
- Bill Goodfellow, EA Engineering Science & Technology
- Pat Guiney, S. C. Johnson & Son
- Karen Kidd, University of New Brunswick
- Steve Klaine, Clemson University
- Gene Mancini, E. R. Mancini & Associates
- Sonny Mayer, U.S. EPA, Retired
- Jim McGeer, Wilfrid Laurier University
- Dan Schlenk, University of California Riverside
In these early years, the Fund has provided support to Student members to participate in Society meetings and we have also committed resources to support meeting participation by non-member environmental engineering faculty in an effort to expand SETAC's membership. With proper financial support, the Endowment Fund principal will continuously grow generating annual support for worthy projects including student functions, specialty symposia, sessions, briefings and annual meeting activities so long as these activities are consistent with the Society’s mission. The amount of support depends upon the size of the Fund.
